Moving Quote Tips

Negotiating a moverFinding people to help you move is easy,
finding good movers is not. You can spend lots of time checking with the BBB and reading  reviews, but testimonials can be biased in the movers favor. You should never put items at risk with an unlicensed company as there are too many things that can go wrong. If you utilize our Moving Quote form, only prescreened movers will contact you, whose BBB records have been thoroughly checked. You'll receive up to 6 quotes from only licensed & insured movers. With all those moving quotes, here are tips to help you choose the perfect mover!

  • First, consider how flexible you can be with your moving dates. Moving company rates can fluctuate near holidays or peak travel times.  If you can choose when to move, you may want to consider moving in an off season for your region.  Moving companies are slower during different times of the year, depending on your location.
  • Be as upfront and honest about how much you plan to move yourself, and how much you expect the movers to move. You want an honest quote!
  • Let the movers know how many floors are in your home. Some moving companies charge extra for moving items up and down stairs. You might want to request an in-home moving assessment.
  • Don’t be afraid to negotiate and get a better deal.  Cheap is the new frugal as current economic times are rough and these moving companies want your business.  Remember, everything in life is negotiable. This is especially true with Long Distance Movers. Always use checks or credit cards.  We would advice you not to pay in cash, because there would be no record of the transaction.  Most legitimate moving  companies  will accept credit cards so be sure to ask if credit cards are an option.  Be sure you understand  the amount that is due on delivery versus the deposit amount, and whether deposits are refundable.
  • Ask the movers if there might be any extra charges? For example,  flight charges, long carry charges, appliance charges, parking charges, storage charges, fuel charges, awkward objects, etc. If you have a piano, you should let them know right up front.
